Infrared LEDs in the controller can be sensed by the Kinect sensor. Expansion port for add-on devices like the Chat Headset. Compatible with Xbox One Play and Charge Kit and Xbox One Chat Headset. Jan 14, 2011 Can I use a generic wired xbox controller (not made by microsoft) to play 'games for windows' on a windows 7 machine, or do I have to buy a genuine microsoft product. Presumeably if they work with the xbox then it should also work on a PC using the same driver as the genuine xbox controller. Is there a better driver for this generic gamepad? This'll help for games that REQUIRE the XBOX controller to work (like sonic). As soon as I can figure out hw to install t. I can't find any Windows 7 x86 drivers on the net so I believe that I have to use some kind of standard HID driver to get it working, although I'm not.
The gamepad itself functions pretty well and looks exactly like the original one. The problem, however, is: generic controllers usually define their buttons with numbers. So, in the case of Xbox360, Y = 1, B = 2, A = 3 and so on. That's the config.
So during gameplay, instead of the game prompting you to 'Press Y', it says 'Press 1'. And, obviously, that's confusing as hell, especially during timed events in the middle of a game.
Is there any way to make games show the actual buttons on the controller on the screen instead of the numbers on the controller's config?
I'm using Windows 7 64 bits.
